‘Pathetic’ Meghan Markle making comparisons with abused teenagers

Meghan Markle has come under fire for allegedly comparing her personal experience of bullying to the trauma endured by children living in abusive homes. The criticism came after the Duchess of Sussex’s remarks at an event for Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara, where she spoke with abused teenagers.

During the event, Meghan described herself as “one of the most bullied people” in the world, a comment that quickly sparked backlash. Political commentators Chloe Dobbs and Liz Kershaw voiced strong disapproval of Meghan’s statements during a segment on GB News.

Chloe Dobbs was particularly harsh in her criticism, calling Meghan’s comparison “pathetic” and questioning her understanding of the challenges faced by the children she was addressing. Dobbs remarked, “This is just the most pathetic thing that has come out of her mouth.” She went on to emphasize the stark contrast between Meghan’s experience and those of the teenagers, saying, “Tell this to kids who get beat up over and over again and are bullied by parents in abusive households. I mean, how pretentious are you, Meghan Markle?”

Liz Kershaw also weighed in, agreeing with Dobbs and offering her own critical perspective. She said, “Most of the criticism has been negative, and I think she deserves it.” Kershaw acknowledged the intense media scrutiny Meghan has faced but suggested that the Duchess’s approach was misguided, particularly in this setting.

“We are quite aggressive towards her,” Kershaw admitted, noting the media’s obsession with Meghan, both in the UK and the US. However, she pointed out, “I can imagine that’s not nice to be on the receiving end of. But I do think there’s something really off about going and talking to young girls, going and talking to young people and saying, ‘pity me’.”

Kershaw concluded by urging Meghan to focus on inspiring the teens rather than asking for sympathy. “You live a life of luxury unimaginable to 99.99 percent of people on the planet,” she said. “You should be telling those young people what they can achieve, not what they can fear.”

This controversy has added to the ongoing debate surrounding Meghan Markle’s public image and her handling of personal hardships. Many believe the comments made during the Santa Barbara event missed the mark, especially in the context of speaking to vulnerable young people.
