Meghan Markle may have sent a subtle warning to the Royal Family during an interview, hinting at untold stories about her time in the UK. In her 2023 interview with The Cut discussing her podcast Archetypes, the Duchess of Sussex admitted she has much more to say about her royal experience but has chosen to stay quiet, at least for now.

Royal expert Roya Nikkah, speaking to The Sunday Times, highlighted the significance of Meghan’s comments. “The thinly veiled threats that came in [Meghan’s interview with The Cut] … I think [she] probably hopes it does [feel threatening] to the Royal Family… [But] I think there’s a lot of eye-rolling, going, ‘We’re used to this by now.’”

Nikkah referenced Meghan’s statement, “I have a lot to say until I don’t,” and noted the pointed remark, “I’ve never signed anything that restricts me from talking.” According to Nikkah, there was a “very strong inference” in Meghan’s words that she could reveal more about her time with the Royal Family if she chose to.

Adding to this was Meghan’s revelation that she had left a personal journal at Frogmore Cottage during her time in the UK, which she rediscovered upon returning for Queen Elizabeth II’s Jubilee. Nikkah expressed surprise, saying, “I was astonished to discover that she had left a highly private diary behind in Windsor, rather than taking it back.”

This discovery has fueled speculation about Meghan’s potential plans to write her own memoir. Nikkah hinted at this possibility, explaining, “She’s mentioned a couple of times in the last year or two that she kept a journal, and I think there is a very strong inference that Meghan could write her own memoir.”

As Prince Harry’s memoir Spare garnered global attention, many are now wondering if Meghan will follow suit. The Duchess’s decision to stay silent for the time being may be temporary, leaving the Royal Family to brace for the possibility that her version of events could one day be told in her own words.
