‘Clear Signs of Mental Illness’: Morning Joe Sounds Alarm on Nevada Paper’s Trump Warning
On Thursday morning, newly-anointed “Morning Joe” co-host Jonathan Lemire relayed to a national TV audience concerns from the editorial board of Nevada’s largest paper that Donald Trump is mentally unfit to lead the country .
On Wednesday, the Las Vegas Sun went where the Jeff Bezos-owned Washington Post wouldn’t go and alerted their readers that the former president is ” not healthy enough to become the oldest president ever inaugurated after canceling numerous public appearances due to exhaustion and struggling to complete sentences when he does show up.”
MSNBC host Lemire focused on the editor writing, “The nation must confront the fact that beyond his hateful character, he is crippled cognitively and showing clear signs of mental illness. “
Pointing out that the Sun is the largest paper in a key battleground state, Lemire added the editorial “powerfully” made “the case against Donald Trump using some of the arguments that had been used against President Biden earlier this year, suggesting when the president was atop the ticket that he was too old, he was in decline; now saying it is about Trump but twinning it with the argument that he is also dangerous to hold the office.”
That led MSNBC contributor Elise Jordan to interject, “I don’t know that his mental faculties have dramatically changed, he’s always been pretty unstable. I don’t know if I necessarily agree with that part because he’s always been unstable, but in terms of the age argument: yes! Why did we apply one standard to Joe Biden and we don’t apply it to Donald Trump?”
“He an old guy, I felt sorry for him struggling with the garbage truck yesterday,” she added, pointing to the former president having trouble climbing into the truck, missing the door handle and almost teetering over in a clip that went viral on Wednesday.
“Sean Hannity called that ‘iconic,” co-host Mika Brzezinski noted before adding “We just don’t see the same thing.”
