AOC Calls Team Trump “Shockingly Dim” and That WE Should Treat Them As Such
Yes, Democrats got knocked down hard by last November’s election results. Now, others are starting to wonder if they’ve been sucker-punched by Trump’s campaign promises. Trump’s approval rating was still above 50% in the last poll I saw but it had dropped six points.
Not that Democrat’s approval rating is anything to brag about. Many of us have been urging ourselves and others to get up off the mat and start fighting back. Yes, it’s hard to do when you’re unsteady on your own feet but when your opponent is stupidly playing to the crowd, punching the air or even the posts on the corner of the ring and hurting their own hand in the process you have a chance to knock THEM down.
That’s more or less what Alexandria Ocasio Cortez says is the situation, and what we should be doing. The funk Democrats have been in is palatable. Too many have just given up. I’ll admit to having for a time fought that feeling myself. As this article from Raw Story indicates according to AOC Democrats overall have come to regard Trump and his new administration as an “Omnipotent Goliath” while we should be seeing it as a lumbering beast that’s easy to trip up.
What prompted her to speak up was the fiasco of the Trump’s Executive Order shutting down disbursement of federal funds to turn off all the various state’s Medicaid Portals. The outcry was so swift and loud it was rescinded the next day. That was bad, and THEN Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made it worse with a statement that’s now being used against the administration in the court battle to extend the injunction against that EO!
Clowns to the left, Jokers (the Batman type) to the right and there in the middle is the half-clown half-joker Donald Trump who once again occupies the Oval Office. Surrounded by incompetents and idiots. The few (i.e. Rubio) who aren’t are total lap-dogs and regardless of what their own good judgement tells them will do and say whatever Trump demands. So AOC is on to something. Think about it.
Trump was crazy enough to initially nominate Matt freaking Gaetz for AG. Even HE quickly recognized how boneheaded that was. Alas, it hasn’t stopped him from elevating others, a cast of characters (and I mean that in the negative way) to staff his second administration. Some, like Patel (FBI), Gabbard (DNI) and RFK Jr. are downright dangerous but not yet confirmed.
But some who could also turn out to be as dangerous as we fear have already been so, or will be. Hegseth at Defense, Ratcliffe at CIA, Noem at DHS, and it’s virtually certain Bondi will be our new AG. But there are others who don’t know jack. However they impressed Trump by looking good singing his praises on Fox and that’s all that matters to him.
Everyone is there to do whatever Trump says and know it’s do so and enthusiastically or find themselves cast to the MAGA mob for the type of treatment Pence was supposed to get. It’s possible Rubio and Stefanik are trying to do a Nikki Haley and put in a couple of years of quiet service to burnish their credentials for later on. Both are still rather young.
But most of them are useless or dangerous or in some cases both. And that is the point AOC is making. There have already been major screwups and Democrats should be screaming to high heaven pointing them out. Often and loudly enough that a fearful news business has no choice but to air. And talk about. Hell, just look at what’s transpired in the hours (it’s barely more than half a day) since that tragic plane crash in DC.
We’ve had two articles about it here on Politizoom so far. We had Trump’s ham-handed statement I wrote about, and his just approved (yesterday) Transportation Secretary’s dumbass statement pointed out by Ursula. As AOC says they are laying out their “junk” on the table and handing us a mallet if we’ve got the gumption to swing it and mash their “goodies’ flat!
Hell, this morning Hegseth told reporters the crash was due to a mistake and that they’d get to the bottom of what happened. Gee, ya think? The NTSB and/or military ALWAYS “get to the bottom of it” as in figure out what happened. Doing so yet again in this case won’t be anything new. It’s just the way of things. Long before Pete Hegseth was even born.
As for the mistake part odds are someone did fail in some manner. Even in crashes that come from an aircraft system failing (and in such cases it’s almost always an “Event Cascade” – one failure after another that overwhelms the crew) start with some mechanic or technician screwing up. Human error is always a safe bet.
However, as simple-minded as Hegseth was new Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy knocked the idiot ball out of the park with a statement quoted by Raw Story in which he said to journalists “Obviously it is not standard to have aircraft collide, I want to be clear on that.” Well DUH! My own instant reaction was ‘No sh*t Sherlock’ but I’m a relative nobody. Fortunately there are influencers on social media like Alex Coal who noted “No f—— s—,” in response to Duffy the Dumbass.
So yes, in the linked article AOC has a point when she says:
“Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent,” she wrote on BlueSky. “Opportunities are everywhere.”
She doesn’t leave it at that. She goes on to say:
“Make everything as hard as possible,” she said Wednesday. “Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are [bad].”
That last part is an understatement to say the least. That doesn’t mean it’s not shockingly true. Yes, we see the bumbling characters like Trump and others but there are also the Project 2025 folks near him and IN his administration. There is some actual brainpower there.
However there are a couple of things to keep in mind. That whole Project 2025 manifesto took years to craft. During that time those who conceived and/or created it also developed a ton of arrogance, proven by the fact they put it out there last spring! For all their planning I don’t think they factored in the possibility of people, people who know how to fight back!
Well, they created their plan and got their guy in place to turn them loose. However I can’t help but wonder if they are the equivalent of a great high school football coach major colleges want to hire creating a game plan for the Super Bowl. Against a team that has had a difficult year (i.e. the Kansas City Chiefs) that has a coaching staff and players who know how to win and find a way. Somehow.
What a lot of folks don’t know is that even with the extra long halftime (screw those long shows!) if your game plan isn’t working it’s really too late to do much about it. Teams that get their butts kicked in the first half just don’t magically figure it out in the moment. And now, ever since the election Team Trump has been “in the moment” and they keep tripping over their own feet or teammates and even fumbling the freaking ball.
That’s what AOC is talking about. So many of them, starting with Trump are clueless. Incompetent. IDIOTS. Start viewing Trump and them as such and then start DOING something with that knowledge including motivating others, including and especially our Democratic leaders to start punching and punching hard. Knock them down. Trip them up. And, for Trump in particular MOCK them over their screwups:
“It’s important to know that a lot of productive activity is happening in person and offline, too,” she said. “Not all of it can be broadcast online, but we’ve had hundreds of people showing up to our trainings, mobilizations, and more. Keep going. Tyranny is eroded by a sea of small acts. Everything matters.”
The REAL Robert F. Kennedy gave a memorable speech sometimes known as the “Ripples of Hope” speech. He speaks of how tiny ripples of hope can turn into a wave that can crash down the mightiest walls of tyranny and oppression. It’s up to us to do as AOC suggests and create ripples. LOTS of ripples. So many that they turn into waves all the journalists and their bosses who’ve been cowed by Trump can’t ignore.
