MSNBC’s “The Weekend,” co-host Michael Steele harshly criticized Donald Trump on Sunday, August 4, for his disparaging remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris at a Saturday night rally.

At the rally, the former President labeled the Democratic nominee a “horror show.”

Steele also condemned the media for repeatedly excusing the former president’s egregious statements.

Reading from a rally transcript where Trump said of Harris, “I don’t even want to define her, I just want to say who she is, she’s a horror show, she’ll destroy our country,” the former RNC chair began his tirade.

He wondered how reporters cover Trump rallies, pointing out that they are giving him too much attention yet most of what he says doesn’t deserve such kind of attention.

“I’m curious how reporters cover this because, to be honest, you leave a lot on the table. You take what this man says as if it’s both meaningful and important,” Steele began.

He added that going by how Trump has been conducting himself, he does not qualify for any position, not even a dog catcher.

“But for the title ‘president’ or ‘former president’ in front of his name, there’s no way this version of Donald Trump would be a viable candidate for dog catcher, let alone president.”

“I just don’t understand why we allow so much of what he says to seep into our culture and politics as normal — that is not a normal quote from someone running for president,” Steele continued.

He claimed that Trump has completely lost his coherence, and can no longer even properly express himself in his rants against Harris.

“He cannot string a coherent sentence together while criticizing his political opponent.”

“And we, in the press, and the media, treat this as some sort of dogfight, focusing on who is ahead or behind, rather than what this actually says about our decline as a country for allowing such garbage on our airwaves every day,” Steele concluded.

Trump has lately been seen taking personal jabs at Harris, whose entry into the presidential race has been characterised by a shoot in Democratic donations.
