An electoral map released by RealClearPolitics on Saturday, August 10, indicated that former President Donald Trump is leading in four critical battleground states and is narrowly ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election.

Despite facing a challenging campaign filled with setbacks and a rising challenge from Harris, his Democratic rival, Trump maintains a lead in the key states of Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.

These states are crucial for either candidate to secure the presidency, as reported by Mediaite.

However, Harris has managed to hold onto Michigan and Wisconsin, preventing Trump from repeating his 2016 victories in these states.

In the 2016 election, Trump won the presidency by securing 304 Electoral College votes, surpassing the required 270, with victories in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Arizona, though he lost Nevada.

According to Saturday’s RealClearPolitics map, if current trends continue, Trump and his running mate, Senator JD Vance, would defeat Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, with an electoral vote count of 287-251.

This analysis from RealClearPolitics contrasts with a Sienna/New York Times poll, also released on Saturday, which showed Trump trailing Harris in Pennsylvania by a margin of 46% to 50%.

The same poll revealed that Trump is also behind in Michigan and Wisconsin by similar margins.

Additionally, an Ipsos poll published on Thursday found that Trump and Harris are in a “statistical dead heat” across seven battleground states.

The poll highlighted concerns among voters in these states about inflation, immigration, and political extremism.

While Trump outperformed Harris on issues of inflation and immigration, neither candidate had a clear advantage on the issue of political extremism and polarization.

The prediction comes at a time when both candidates are busy with their campaigns, with each giving promises they believe will woo voters.

Trump, for instance, is promising to among others, tackle the immigration issue once and for all, as Republicans accuse illegal immigrants of among others, bringing crime into the United States.

Harris, on the other hand, is promising lower taxes, better terms for workers among others.

“It is my promise to everyone here, when I am President, we will continue our fight for working families of America, including to raise the minimum wage and eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers,” she said in Las Vegas on Saturday, August 10, as quoted by the New York Post.
