Furious Viewers Slam GMB Over Trans Report — Call It ‘Unwatchable’!

Good Morning Britain sparked backlash from viewers after they claimed Sir Keir Starmer is facing mounting pressure to back the Supreme Court ruling on gender definition. The UK’s highest court last week confirmed that the definition of a woman in equality law is based on biological sex. This means that only people who are born female should be protected from discrimination as a woman under the Act in a landmark ruling.
On Monday’s (April 21) instalment of Good Morning Britain, correspondent Louisa James confirmed that the prime minister was yet to directly speak on the new ruling as he has been on holiday. “There has also been a lot of anger from those who say the decision has left trans people scared and confused about their rights,” Louisa explained. “There were demonstrations in London and elsewhere over the weekend.”
Louisa revealed that police are investigating criminal damage to seven statues, which Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has branded as “disgraceful”.
She continued: “It has been reported that Labour ministers are concerned about what this decision means. Louisa went on to revealed that leaked messages from Labour MPs’ LGBT+ WhatsApp group raised concerns about the impact of the ruling on the trans community.
Messages leaked to the Mail on Sunday allegedly include the Home Office minister Dame Angela Eagle saying “the ruling is not as catastrophic as it seems but the EHRC [Equality and Human Rights Commission] guidance might be & there are already signs that some public bodies are overreacting”.
Meanwhile culture minister Sir Chris Bryant reportedly replied he “agreed” that it was “pretty appalling” that the Equality and Human Rights Commission said the ruling would mean trans women could not use single-sex female facilities or compete in women’s sports.
Louisa went on to say MP’s are calling for Sir Keir to stand up in the House of Commons and make a statement about how this ruling is going to be interpreted and put into practice.
The report sparked fury amongst viewers as they questioned why this was being discussed on Good Morning Britain.
“He doesn’t need to back it. It’s a binding ruling over a definition in law. That’s it,” wrote one fan as another agreed: “Makes no difference what this fella says the courts ruling is final and law.”
A third fumed: “Unlike the US President the PM will obviously respect all Supreme Court decisions. Your presenter bias makes the programme unwatchable.” Others appeared to call out the Labour leader for not responding yet, with one declaring: “Grow a spine please, PM.”
A second added: “He’s so keen on following the law he has no choice.”
