Instead Of Trump, Cowardly Journalists Decide To Bash Biden Instead

In recent days a chorus is rising among both individual journalists and news outlets. It’s a mea culpa over not “exposing” that Joe Biden had declined “so much.” They just gollly gee didn’t realize how bad it was and are really, really sorry they didn’t figure out how bad things were and report it.

To listen to them now, Biden couldn’t feed himself or wipe his butt, much less tend to his job.  I call bullshit!  I say Trump has them so freaking cowed they are doing another round of Biden Bashing to curry favor. Or at least avoid Trump’s wrath.

But the knives are out, AGAIN for Biden. Perhaps news that he’s getting more vocal and might even do another presser has them nervous?  Whatever the reason, the journalism ‘Apology Circus’ is underway. And at no less than the WH Correspondent’s dinner some special emphasis was put into the night’s theme of ‘We’re Sorry America For Not Realizing Biden Was A Useless Idiot.”

Chris Cizilla offers his opinion in this piece from The Daily Beast.  It’s the kind of thing I’m seeing and hearing from others.  And it disgusts me.  The story they missed was that even during Trump’s first term HE wasn’t playing with a full deck.

As his own campaign went along he was pretty damned hidden away himself. Nowhere near the number of rallies that had been his stock in trade. And when he did have them he BORED his MAGAs. Smaller venues with fewer people, who usually started leaving well before he was done. Why wasn’t THAT all over the news complete with pictures and videos? 

Also, there’s been plenty of WHAT  THE  HELL? out of Trump since getting back in the WH. Yet journalism wants to ‘apologize’ for ‘dropping the ball’ on Biden.  The linked article makes this clear. The author, like others is wearing out his arm patting himself on the back for recognizing the “truth” (more like “truthiness” from the Comedy Central Colbert show) of not recognizing ‘Biden’s decline.’ Thompson’s remarks included things like:

President Biden’s decline and its cover-up by the people around him is a reminder that every White House, regardless of party, is capable of deception.

But being truth tellers also means telling the truth about ourselves. We, myself included, missed a lot of this story. And some people trust us less because of it. We bear some responsibility for faith in the media being at such lows. I say this because acknowledging errors builds trust and being defensive about them further erodes it. We should have done better.

Cizilla says yes to that. He goes on to say in recent months it’s become clear to him that Thompson was right to use the term “cover up” regarding how “President Biden’s inner circle treated his health, age and declining abilities.”  Really dude? Because later on you say THIS:

Which brings me to the second thing I have come to believe about the Biden health cover-up: I do not think that the media was actively complicit. But that doesn’t mean we are blameless—or unbiased.

I have not seen proof that reporters knew—beyond a shadow of a doubt—that Biden was declining and ignored it. This was not, to my knowledge, a repeat of how the White House press corps treated John F. Kennedy, for example. Those reporters very clearly knew that JFK was cheating on his wife. They knew he was, at times in the White House, very ill. And they reported none of it. They agreed to shield the less-savory qualities of the president from the public.

It’s that kind of double-speak that has me calling bullshit on Cizilla and others. Journalists have spent damned near TEN YEARS blowing their coverage of Trump!  So they are trying to get themselves off the hook by trashing Biden and claiming ‘oopsies’ on not seeing all the ‘signs he’d lost his mojo.’  You know what I think?  I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again. Knives had been out for Biden for a while for reasons I’ll get to.

Then came that disastrous debate and boy were they primed to TAKE DOWN A PRESIDENT!  But then ole Joe turns right around and gives a command performance leading the NATO summit. Then he handed them their asses in that MASTER CLASS of a press conference. Here they were all ready to show the public how much better and smarter THEY were and Biden went and showed them up! Bigly.  The Butt-Hurt from journalists was palatable at the time. It clearly hasn’t eased.

It’s no secret I’ve felt former President Biden was badly served by his closest advisors for at least a year prior to his abandoning his re-election bid. In fifty years of public service he was a well-known gaffe machine due to his lifelong stutter. He’d mostly overcome it but his mind worked faster than his mouth so he’d blurt out something sometimes that needed correcting.

Then he broke a bone in his foot and like so many didn’t fully follow doctor’s orders. (I did when I had a similar injury a couple of years ago and I never bounced all the way back) So yes, they shielded him as much as possible from the media. It didn’t help that major donors and power players in the Democratic Party including some of our leaders weren’t getting as much face time as they used to.

In any case I will always believe Biden’s biggest mistake was not telling his advisors to go to hell.  He had SO much on his plate. Only a few Presidents in our history have had so much to do and so quickly.  I try to forgive him for allowing himself to get caught up in actually doing his job, and doing it better than most have done. 

In the process he trusted them as they limited access, the interviews and glad-handing stuff.  I’ll bet he looks back and kicks himself over how smoothly they “handled” him right into the loss of his job and considerable damage to his legacy.  Maybe journalists are afraid, and echoing certain Democrats fears that if Biden does retake the public stage he goes Dark Brandon on all their cowardly asses!  I hope he does.

Not only will it drive Trump batshit insane, it will emphasize to the country what we could have in the WH instead of the flaming orange human shaped rectum we know as Donald J. Trump. He should have told them to go to hell.

Anyway, after his disastrous debate (over-prepared I say) journalists couldn’t wait to do a coup de grace. Except Biden turned right around and did a masterful job leading the NATO conference right there in DC! THEN he wiped the floor with journalists in that epic prime time press conference!

I think Kamala Harris was well prepared and would already be carrying out the duties of the Presidency with distinction. However I worried there simply wasn’t time for the country to accept someone both who was female and not white. 

She’d have had time in 2028 but both circumstances forced a different timetable. But the point remains is that news outlets never figured out how to cover Trump to expose him for the IDIOT and FRAUD he is and always has been. Plus, especially in 2016 he made them a lot of money! 

Now, with Trump’s threats against them actually carrying real weight it’s time to pay the proverbial piper. Which is them. But rather than take on Trump, they’re instead currying favor (or trying to) via another round of trashing Joe Biden.
