Jared Kushner Reveals Why He and Ivanka Are Steering Clear of Trump’s Campaign – ‘We’re Rooting for Him
Nearly two years ago when Donald Trump announced his third run for the presidency, his daughter and longtime adviser Ivanka Trump said that she would remain on the sidelines.
She’s kept her word and barely made an appearance. She joined her dad at the GOP convention in July, and again at a Madison Square Garden rally this month. She also testified at her father’s New York fraud trial, though that was not a campaign event. Now, a week before Election Day, the New York Times is asking ,”Where’s Ivanka?”
When the Times reached out, she didn’t respond, directing all questions to her husband and former senior White House adviser Jared Kushner.
Ms. Trump “made the decision when she left Washington that she was closing that chapter of her life . And she’s been remarkably consistent,” Kushner said.
Kushner added that whoever is elected to the White House wouldn’t have much of an impact on his family, the Times wrote.
“Obviously, the world is different for us over the next four years if her father is president,” Kushner told the Times. He doesn’t anticipate “a major shift in terms of what we prioritize.”
“We’re rooting for him — obviously, we’re proud of him,” he continued. “But, you know, either way, our life will just continue to move forward.”
After their four years in the White House, Kushner cashed in on hedge fund investments from the Saudi Royal fund, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Taiwanese billionaire Terry Gou. In fees alone, Kushner has scored $112 million , the Times reported.
If Trump is elected, there are questions about whether Kushner will get “special treatment” around their foreign investments and communication with foreign governments. The report said the couple is already at work on projects.
GOP political strategist Susan del Percio told the Times that the absence of the two top Trump women — Ivanka and Trump’s wife Melania — is conspicuous. Instead, daughter-in-law Lara Trump has taken on a larger role.
“They’re much richer than they were before they went into government,” said “Kushner Inc.” writer Vicky Ward. “And now he’s got a Rolodex of world leaders who are on the phone to him. And when he puts the phone down, he can call his father-in-law.”
Ivanka’s photos of charity events , speaking engagements, and meetings with international leaders have given way to photos posted on her Instagram account including shots of her in the hot tub with her kids, partying with Kim Kardashian , learning to surf , and her workout regimen , the Times reported.
