A high-stakes class-action lawsuit involving 78 injured plaintiffs from the January 6 Capitol riot was recently dismissed by US District Court Judge Dabney L. Friedrich.

The $150 million lawsuit, which accused 20 members of the US Capitol Police and DC Metropolitan Police of excessive force and abuse, was thrown out due to a technicality related to contact information.

The dismissal, which has ignited outrage among Trump supporters and legal experts, is not the end of the road for those seeking justice.

As reported by The American Gulag on Friday, August 23, 2024 Attorney Stefanie Lambert, a staunch advocate for the January 6 plaintiffs, has filed an appeal, promising to reignite the fight for accountability.

The lawsuit was grounded in serious allegations. It claimed that law enforcement officers used brutal and improper force against peaceful protesters and failed to adhere to proper protocols.

The plaintiffs, who suffered physical and emotional trauma, sought redress for the abuses they endured on that fateful day. However, the dismissal hinged on an unexpected issue: a missing phone number.

Jake Lang, a lead plaintiff who has been held in solitary confinement for over 44 months, was unable to provide a contact number due to his incarceration.

The court cited Local Civil Rule 5.1c, which requires plaintiffs to be reachable, and used this rule to dismiss the case.

The defendants, in a move some see as legal maneuvering, argued that Lang’s inability to provide a contact number—while imprisoned and isolated—made him unreachable, despite the fact that his Power of Attorney had received communication from the Department of Justice.

This ruling has been criticized as a miscarriage of justice, seen by many as a tactic to undermine the plaintiffs’ claims and silence dissenting voices.

Despite this setback, Lambert’s appeal signals that the battle is far from over. The fight for truth and accountability continues as the case moves to the next legal stage.

The plaintiffs’ supporters argue that this dismissal reflects a broader issue of corruption and bias within the legal system, attempting to stifle the voices of those who seek justice.

The renewed appeal aims to challenge the legal barriers that have been erected and ensure that the truth about January 6 is fully revealed.

While the courtroom defeat may be a temporary setback, the plaintiffs and their advocates remain determined. The legal struggle is set to continue, as the quest for justice for the January 6 patriots moves forward.
