The vice president said during Tuesday’s debate that people leave Trump’s campaign rallies “early out of exhaustion and boredom.” He didn’t take it well.

Vice President Kamala Harris got under former President Donald Trump’s skin with a mocking comment about the attendance at his campaign rallies during Tuesday night’s ABC News presidential debate in Philadelphia.

“I’m going to invite you to attend one of Trump’s rallies because it’s a really interesting thing to watch,” Harris said, looking straight into the camera. “You’ll hear about Hannibal Lecter, how windmills cause cancer, and what you’ll also notice is that people start leading his rallies early out of exhaustion and boredom.”

“The only thing you won’t hear him talk about is your needs, your dreams and your desires,” she added.

The remark about his rally attendance clearly irked Trump, who fired back: “We have the biggest rallies, the most incredible in the history of politics.”

Harris seemed to relish the fact that Trump responded to the attack, looking over at him with a wide smile while holding her hand under her chin.

Trump then veered further off message by bringing up false reports of migrants eating people’s pets in Springfield, Ohio, which Republicans have hyped in recent days as a reason to crack down on the U.S.-Mexico border.

“In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs, they’re eating the cats, they’re eating the pets of the people that live there,” Trump said. “The people on television are saying my dog was taken and used for food.”

ABC News host David Muir immediately fact-checked the former president, saying his outlet had asked local officials in Ohio about the claim and were not aware of it happening.
