Melania and Barron Escorted Out of Trump Tower After Reportedly Spending 12 Days Locked Inside
Melania Trump and her son Barron were finally seen leaving Trump Tower on Tuesday, June 4, according to an exclusive report from the New York Post. The sighting marks the first time the former first lady and her 18-year-old son have been spotted since Donald Trump’s conviction on 34 felony counts in his hush money trial last week.
The Post reports that Melania and Barron emerged from the iconic Manhattan skyscraper lugging numerous pieces of luxury luggage, including at least seven Louis Vuitton bags and several garment bags monogrammed with Barron’s initials. Melania, described as keeping “her head down,” swiftly entered a waiting Secret Service SUV with Barron following behind.
Their exit from Trump Tower came after an alleged 12-day period spent sequestered inside, the Post claims. The reason for their reported lockdown remains unclear, though it coincided with the high-profile federal trial that resulted in Donald Trump becoming only the third president in U.S. history to be criminally convicted.
While Trump himself has made several public appearances since the verdict, including a defiant interview on Fox News Sunday, Melania has remained completely silent and out of view. Her absence throughout the duration of the trial also raised eyebrows, as most spouses traditionally show support by attending court proceedings.
On the Fox News program, Trump addressed his wife’s reaction, stating: “She’s fine, but I think it’s very hard for her. In many ways, it’s tougher on [the family] than it is on me.” Newsweek reports the mother and son were headed to the Trump family’s estate in Bedminster, New Jersey after their departure from Manhattan.
It’s unclear if Donald Trump, who returned to his Florida residence at Mar-a-Lago after the trial, will join them there. Melania’s lack of any public statements or appearances since her husband’s legal troubles intensified has only fueled speculation about her state of mind.
Some have wondered if she may be distancing herself from the escalating criminal matters surrounding the former president.
