“He Might Have It” Analyst Suspects Disorder Trump is Struggling With After Florida Presser Scenes
Fox News, commentator Mary Katherine Ham on Sunday, August 11, speculated that former President Donald Trump’s erratic behavior at a recent press conference could be due to attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
The conversation began when host Howard Kurtz noted that Trump’s latest press event, which was held at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, had been labeled as “whack-a-doodle” and “unhinged.”
Kurtz remarked that, despite the chaotic nature of the conference, it was a serious hour where Trump was fielding questions.
“The Trump news conference was a pretty serious hour in my view, taking questions,” he pointed out.
Ham acknowledged that Trump has a habit of straying off-topic, which led her to suggest that he might have a mild, possibly undiagnosed, form of ADHD.
“Look, I think that the president clearly has a tendency to take side roads. He might have mild ADHD, he’s possibly undiagnosed, I don’t know, I’m not treating him,” Ham said.
She went on to say that Trump’s lack of discipline in sticking to talking points can be strategically damaging for him.
“But he has those characteristics. He is undisciplined in this way. It can be bad for him tactically to do these things and not keep it on the talking points.”
Despite this criticism, Ham credited Trump for engaging with reporters and taking questions during the press conference.
However, she expressed concern about Trump’s tendency to spread misinformation, particularly regarding polling and campaign spending.
She added that the rate at which Trump is making baseless claims in pressers and other events should concern other Americans as well.
“However, and when he talks about polling trutherism and being concerned and saying things that aren’t true about the polls or aren’t true about ad spending, that makes me concerned, and it should make people concerned,” Ham added.
Her observation comes at a time when Trump is up against a new and apparently more organised opponent, in the name of Vice President Kamala Harris.
Harris took from President Joe Biden, who recently withdrew his reelection bid after intense pressure from fellow Democrats and donors.
Harris’ entry has resulted in a quick shoot in donations, with Democratic figures too rushing to assemble behind her and her candidature.
