Reporter Reveals Trump’s November Plan: Allegations of a Plot if Defeated by Harris
New York Times’ Peter Baker has commented on former President Donald Trump’s ongoing struggle to accept the possibility that he could lose the upcoming election to Vice President Kamala Harris.
Appearing on MSNBC’s “Way Too Early” on Wednesday morning, August 14, Baker pointed out that Trump’s recent behavior indicates that he is increasingly losing his grip on reality.
Speaking with host Jonathan Lemire, Baker addressed a recent warning from Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who cautioned that Trump will never accept a loss to Harris and could escalate the situation further.
Baker agreed, noting that this aligns with some of the latest conspiracy theories Trump has been promoting.
When Lemire suggested that Trump might already be preparing for another “big lie,” Baker responded that Trump seems more disconnected from reality and that this might be a deliberate strategy.
He speculated that Trump is once again attempting to convince his supporters that any defeat would be the result of a rigged election, which is something he is incapable of accepting.
“Yeah, he seemed increasingly separated from reality and there may be strategy behind it,” he said.
“The idea that is he’s once again trying to convince his voters that something untoward happened in order to explain a defeat and that’s something, of course, he cannot accept.”
Baker emphasized that Trump, in particular, cannot accept the idea of losing to Kamala Harris, which is why he is likely trying to find a way to rationalize a potential defeat.
He pointed out that Trump started laying the groundwork for this narrative back in May 2020, long before the election results came in.
Trump had begun claiming that any outcome other than his victory would indicate a fraudulent election.
“This behavior is nothing new. Trump has a history of refusing to acknowledge any loss, instead opting to create conspiracy theories and alternate realities to explain away any failure,” he opined.
“What we’re seeing now is a continuation of that pattern, laying the groundwork for more chaos if he loses in November.”
Baker warned that this behavior suggests Trump is feeling the pressure and might be concerned that he won’t be able to win in the upcoming election.
