Things Get Ugly For Trump as He Gets Linked to the Most Serious Bribe in White House History
Things have taken a dramatic turn for former President Donald Trump as he gets linked to what is being described as the most serious bribe in White House history.
According to a Washington Post report on Monday, August 5, 2024, an investigation has surfaced alleging that the Egyptian government illegally funneled $10 million to Trump’s 2016 campaign.
Writing on X, reporter Carol Leonnig said that the investigation into whether Trump illegally took money from Egypt was “the most serious allegation of a bribe in White House history.”
Leonnig highlighted three factors that make this investigation particularly significant: it was based on “jaw-dropping” CIA intelligence indicating Egypt’s president sought in 2016 to illegally inject $10 million to help elect Trump; the lead came from a reliable CIA informant and was corroborated by other U.S. intelligence operations.
Investigators discovered a $10 million cash withdrawal in January 2017 from a key Egyptian spy agency account that seemed to validate the intelligence.
According to the Post’s reporting, an organization linked to Egypt’s intelligence services instructed the country’s state-run bank to withdraw $10 million in cash, which was then stuffed into two large bags and carried out of the bank.
“Federal investigators learned of the withdrawal, which has not been previously reported, early in 2019,” the Post reported.
“The discovery intensified a secret criminal investigation that had begun two years earlier with classified U.S. intelligence indicating that Egyptian President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi sought to give Trump $10 million to boost his 2016 presidential campaign.”
As if that weren’t enough, the Department of Justice (DOJ) was also investigating whether Trump knew about the potential to be reimbursed by Egypt and if that contributed to his decision to spend $10 million of his own money in the final weeks of the 2016 campaign.
This aspect of the investigation raises further questions about Trump’s motivations and financial decisions during his campaign.
The potential implications of these allegations are profound, as they suggest foreign interference and illegal contributions at the highest levels of the U.S. government.
The revelation that the investigation was shut down by former Attorney General Bill Barr adds another layer of controversy, given Barr’s history of actions perceived as protective of Trump.
Leonnig’s comments on social media have sparked widespread debate and concern, with many calling for a thorough and transparent investigation into the allegations.
The situation underscores the ongoing challenges and complexities of ensuring the integrity of the U.S. electoral process and the importance of accountability for public officials.
This investigation, if proven true, could have significant ramifications for Trump and his associates, potentially leading to legal and political consequences.
The alleged involvement of a foreign government in the U.S. electoral process is a serious matter that warrants careful scrutiny and robust oversight.
The reported allegations against Trump, based on credible intelligence and corroborated by financial evidence, represent a potentially unprecedented case of foreign interference and bribery in the White House.
