Frank Luntz, the Republican pollster said that the presidential election was essentially concluded following Vice President Kamala Harris’ dominant debate performance over Donald Trump on September 10.

Despite Kamala Harris not delivering her best performance, Luntz, often dubbed the “Nostradamus of pollsters,” emphasized that Trump severely damaged his election campaign during the pivotal showdown.

Frank Luntz says ‘Donald Trump lost’

In an interview with Piers Morgan on Wednesday, September 11, when asked if Kamala Harris won the debate, Frank Luntz responded, “I think more accurately is that Donald Trump lost.”

He described Trump’s face-off against Harris as “very close to” the worst debate performance he has ever seen, citing the former president’s controversial references to immigrants abducting and eating pet animals and his praise of Hungary’s leader Viktor Orban as significant low points.

Frank Luntz highlights Donald Trump’s missed opportunities

Frank Luntz expressed disappointment in Donald Trump for missing his critical opportunities at the debate to address key voter concerns such as affordability and inflation.

He criticized the Republican presidential candidate’s inability to present his viewpoints without attacking Harris and President Joe Biden.

Reflecting on how Trump’s performance could influence voters on November 5, Luntz said, “I think that he loses because of this debate performance.”

While Luntz was critical of the 78-year-old politician, he also expressed his disappointment with Harris’ performance as he described the debate as “pretty bad for the entire country.”

“If these are the best that Republicans and Democrats can do, it’s a pretty sad state for American democracy,” he added.

Donald Trump and Kamala Harris’ debate performance

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump faced off for the first time in the ABC News debate held in Philadelphia, where the candidates sparred for over an hour and a half on issues including foreign policy, the economy, and abortion.

The Democratic presidential nominee’s strategy appeared to be focused on knocking Trump off balance, a move that seemed to work during the debate, according to Daily Mail.

Harris created the most viral moment of the debate night when she mocked Trump’s rallies by claiming that people left his campaign events early due to “exhaustion and boredom.”

Responding to Harris, the former president defended his rallies as “the most incredible rallies in the history of politics” before he diverted to a recent rumor about immigrants abducting and eating pets.

Harris then dismissed the false claim with a laugh.

During the debate, Trump, who raised his voice in personal attacks against Harris, also refused to acknowledge his election defeat in 2020.
