The post-debate CNN flash poll showed that a significant majority of viewers who watched the face-off between Trump and Harris on ABC News believe the Vice President came out victorious—a result in stark contrast to how the public felt about President Joe Biden’s performance at the June 27 debate.

The snap poll found that 63% of the surveyed individuals thought Harris did a better job at the debate, while 37% favored Trump’s performance.

Notably, the polls that followed the June 27 debate between Trump and Biden showed the former President towering over the incumbent Commander-in-Chief with 67% of survey-takers naming him the better-performing candidate.

The CNN snap poll also showed that the debate helped people improve their opinion of the Democratic Presidential hopeful.

The pre and post-debate tallies showed the number of voters with a favorable opinion of Harris increased from 39% to 44% over the course of the debate. Similarly, the number of voters with an unfavorable opinion of the Vice President decreased from 50% to 44%.

On the other hand, the margin between the pre and post-debate opinions regarding Trump is significantly lower—the number of voters in favor of the former President decreased from 41% to 39%.

Although public opinion regarding Trump has seemingly only seen a minute decline, The Strand reported that the President has emerged as a “laughing stock” as a result of his debate performance.

The September 10 debate saw Vice President Harris maintain her calm and try to answer as many questions as she could. Meanwhile, Trump answered almost every question by bringing up the immigration crisis and blaming “border czar” Harris.

Trump seemed to mostly weaponize the border issue and held it in the face of any question that was raised at the debate, in addition to labeling Harris a “Marxist” and the Democrats “radicals.”

Trump also brought up the now-debunked claims about Haitian immigrants allegedly abducting and eating people’s pets in Springfield, Ohio.

The former President further claimed at the debate that he still believes that he had originally won the 2020 Presidential elections by “a landslide” but the results went in favor of Biden as a result of election fraud.

When questioned about his statements over the past few weeks where he said he lost 2020 “by a whisker” – hence acknowledging his defeat in the previous election – Trump replied that he was being “sarcastic.”

“No, I don’t acknowledge it [his defeat in the 2020 Presidential election] at all. I said that sarcastically, you know that,” the former President said at the debate.

However, The Strand reported that Trump’s supporters have attacked ABC News and seemingly blamed the network for his performance. His supporters labeled the debate as “biased,” “unfair,” and “the worst moderated debate in history.”

“The ABC moderators are clearly shilling for Harris,” the accusations continued, according to The Strand. “A political assassination attempt by the corporate media.”

Notably, the news outlet’s analysis of the debate has been less than merciful towards Trump, claiming that the Vice President all but destroyed him.

However, Republican pollster Frank Luntz also described Trump’s performance at the debate as being close to the “worst debate performance” he has seen in his career.

Luntz went on to say that the former President essentially “lost” the debate and that this loss will “cost him” in the November elections.

The Strand also pointed out that the September 10 debate also resulted in pop icon Taylor Swift formally announcing her endorsement of Harris on social media.

“Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site… The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth. I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz,” Swift wrote on Instagram.

“I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make,” she added.

The announcement was accompanied by a picture of the Blank Space hitmaker holding a cat—as she signed off with “a childless cat lady.”
