Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is gearing up for a high-stakes showdown in the 2024 election, taking a firm stance against any attempts by former President Donald Trump to undermine the voting process in her state.

In a candid appearance on MSNBC, Nessel shared her concerns about potential election tampering, revealing her strategy to combat any such efforts.

During her discussion with host Katie Phang, Nessel made it clear that she expects Trump to employ tactics reminiscent of those from the 2020 election.

“I think it is probably his number one strategy, honestly,” she said. The Attorney General expressed doubts about Trump focusing on swaying undecided voters, suggesting instead that his campaign might target the election process itself.

Nessel highlighted that there are already initiatives in place in Michigan aimed at subverting the election through illegal means.

She noted that efforts are being made to recruit Republicans for various roles, including poll workers and local clerks, with the goal of influencing the outcome in an unauthorized manner.

“What I see is these efforts that are already in place here on the ground in Michigan to try to subvert the election,” Nessel stated.

The Attorney General’s remarks underscore her anticipation of a more intense battle compared to the 2020 election. She believes that the forthcoming challenges could exceed those previously encountered.

“I think that what we saw in 2020, you know, it is going to pale in comparison to what we are likely going to see in 2024,” she said.

Her determination to safeguard the electoral process is evident in her statements about defending the will of the people.

Nessel also addressed the potential scenario if the people of Michigan support Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.

She acknowledged the significant effort required to ensure that votes are protected against any subversion attempts.

“I don’t think anybody should underestimate how hard we are going to have to fight to defend people’s votes against an effort by the Trump campaign to subvert democracy,” she asserted.

In her passionate defense of the electoral system, Nessel’s commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent election is clear.

Her proactive stance indicates that Michigan is preparing for a rigorous defense of democratic principles as the 2024 election approaches.
