What Trump Tried to Quickly do After Realizing He Made Big Blunder Before MAGA Crowd
Reacting to Donald Trump’s speech at a rally on Saturday night, August 3, in Atlanta, CNN’s Alayna Treene highlighted a notable moment when the former president showed frustration about having to compete against Vice President Kamala Harris.
Treene noted on Sunday, August 4, that the former President seems to be reverting to the strategy he used in 2016, which involved attacking his opponents on a personal level, as he did with Hillary Clinton.
Currently, the Trump campaign’s tactic is to label Harris as “phony.”
However, Treene pointed out that Trump unknowingly admitted to struggling with “defining” Harris, which is hindering his campaign.
“I want to draw your attention to something interesting,” Treene said, before proceeding to report what she noticed during the Trump rally.
“At one point, Donald Trump admitted that they need to define her. They are still trying to figure out how to define her,” she pointed out.
In a video clip, Trump is seen saying, “You know, four months ago she was considered grossly incompetent by the fake news. Now they’re saying, ‘Oh, isn’t she wonderful,’ no she’s not wonderful.”
He continued, “So we have to work hard to define her. I don’t even want to define her, I just want to say who she is, she’s a horror show, she’ll destroy our country.”
Treene added, “He sort of said the quiet part out loud there.”
“He caught himself and said, ‘I don’t need to define her, she’s horrible.’ This is something I’ve heard in conversations with Trump’s advisors. For most of this election cycle, they have ignored Harris altogether.”
“Their strategy had been to target an unpopular 81-year-old incumbent,” she explained.
“Now, they’re rethinking the entire campaign with the election so close. It’s been challenging. You can hear Trump throwing various attacks at her because they’re trying to see what resonates.”
Trump has been seen taking personal jabs at Harris in recent days, especially after she officially joined the race to occupy White House after the fast approaching November election.
He has, for instance, been questioning her race, accusing her of repeatedly changing according to what suits her political plans.
