Former president Donald Trump revealed he desired to appoint his daughter, Ivanka Trump, as the “United Nations secretary.”

Speaking at the conservative Moms for Liberty organization’s gathering in Washington DC on Friday, August 30, the GOP presidential nominee made the bizarre wish even though the UN has a secretary-general, which the US president has no role in appointing, as per Mediaite.

The UN General Assembly selects the individual for the top leadership position, which is currently held by Antonio Guterres, a Portuguese diplomat.

Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, served as senior advisers to the president in the Trump administration.

Donald Trump on Ivanka’s unfulfilled ‘United Nations secretary’ role and working with his adult children

Moms for Liberty co-founder Tiffany Justice asked the ex-president about his experience working with his adult children during his White House period and in the Trump Organization.

Donald’s elder sons, Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump, run his real estate empire while his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, is the Republican National Committee co-chair.

“I’ve always liked it,” the MAGA leader said about working with his adult children. “I don’t know that I’ll be doing very much of it politically because I think it’s been unfair to them.”

The former president then devoted himself to showering praises to his 42-year-old daughter, who was rarely seen on the campaign trail.

“Ivanka was great. She could’ve done anything. Great student. Beautiful girl. Beautiful everything. She’s a perfect person. Worked hard,” he gushed.

The real estate mogul further pointed out that his daughter owned a fashion line before joining as an adviser in his administration. “But she gave it up because she wanted to go,” he said.

“And she didn’t want something like the United Nations secretary. I wanted her to do that. I said, you would be a great ambassador to the United Nations, United Nations secretary. There’d be nobody to compete with her,” the 45th president claimed.

Former president Trump’s use of “secretary” twice in his statement is confusing because a president holds the authority to appoint only a US ambassador to the United Nations and not a secretary general.

Ivanka, who stayed away from the political limelight since her departure from the White House, did not campaign for her father’s third presidential bid. Her last public appearance was in July, supporting the GOP nominee at the Republican National Convention.

Donald Trump’s desire to appoint Ivanka as ‘United Nations secretary’ sparks ridicule targeting former first daughter

The ex-president’s revelation that he wanted to appoint Ivanka Trump to be the “United Nations secretary,” prompted mockery aimed at the former first daughter on social media.

“Just amazing how people talk about Harris’ qualifications when the most unqualified man to ever sit behind the Resolute Desk wanted to hire his unqualified daughter as UN Secretary,” a user wrote.

“A child who thinks the country is a toy,” another remarked.

“Sure Trump , they all snubbed her as nobody at the international gatherings, most saw her as a joke,” read a third response.

“But she’ll have to settle for Mar-a-lago Secretary instead,” added a fourth user.

“Pretty sure that Ivanka would have trouble representing anyone but herself,” someone else added.

“That Queen of the Dunning-Kruger effect would have caused the entire UN to fall out of its collective chairs from rolling their eyes,” an individual said.

“No doubt. But Ivanka lacked the experience to be the US Ambassador to the UN Most world leaders and diplomats would have considered her appointment to be an insult,” another user added.

“Gross. We saw her forcing herself into things above her intelligence level,” read one remark.
