Kamala Harris has leapfrogged her rival Donald Trump as the favorite to win the US Presidential election, according to the latest odds by UK bookmakers.

The Democratic Party candidate was trailing in the betting markets less than two weeks ago but in recent days she has seen the odds shift in her favour. That’s despite a number of polls in the United States that have indicated that the two candidates are still neck-and-neck in the race to be the 47th President.

According to Oddschecker, UK betters can now get odds of 5/6 on Harris to win the election, which means she is regarded as having a 55 percent chance of victory.

For those who want to bet on a MAGA victory, UK gamblers were yesterday being offered odds of 11/10, meaning the chances of a Trump triumph are put at 48 percent.

There are now 45 days left until the election on Tuesday, November 5 and the latest polls have shown Trump and Harris are almost level nationally. However, the winner of the presidential election is determined by the votes cast by each state in an electoral college, which means the candidate winning the biggest share of the national vote may not necessarily make it to the White House.

The odds offered by bookmakers are for the winning candidate, so they represent the bookies’ view of which of the two is most likely to prevail.

According to data compiled by Oddschecker, the candidates have swapped places in the last ten days. On September 10 it was Donald Trump who was the odds-on favorite to win, with Kamala Harris the marginal underdog.

Eleven days ago Trump was given odds of 10/11, a 52 percent chance of being the next US President, while Harris was on 11/10, or a 48 percent chance.
